In the past, however, these have often been heavy and uncomfortable. This is not the case with the innovative stab protection vests from Armadillo Tex GmbH based in Remscheid. Our stab protection under vests are
particularly safe due to high-strength aramid fabric with patented composite structure,
extremely light at only 1.3 kilograms,
are exceptionally flexible thanks to their scaly structure and
breathable and comfortable due to the special mesh structure of the outer fabric.
Patent pending technology
The technology used to make our stab protection vests and other stab-proof garments is innovative and unique throughout the world. After many years of intensive research, we have succeeded in manufacturing a textile composite that is safe, light and flexible at the same time. Our under vest weighs only approx. 1.3 kg, for example. The protective layer is made of a high-strength aramid fabric to which a special plastic is inseparably applied. The high strength fibres and the energy absorbing plastic mean that the specific properties of this composite even exceed those of stainless steel plates. The weight is approx. 4.5 times lower than for a comparably thick stainless steel plate. We have taken the armadillo as a model to ensure flexibility and breathability. Just like this armoured mammal, we make use of an overlapping scaly structure. However, our scaly structure differs from that of other suppliers in that it is not possible to push it apart. This allows us to achieve a high degree of safety in combination with maximum flexibility.

Unsere Unterziehweste hat beispielsweise nur ein Gewicht von ca. 1,3 kg. Die schützende Schicht besteht aus einem hoch festen Aramid-Gewebe, auf das untrennbar ein Spezialkunststoff aufgebracht ist. Durch die hoch festen Fasern und den energieabsorbierenden Kunststoff liegen die spezifischen Eigenschaften dieses Komposits sogar über denen von Edelstahlplatten.
Dabei ist das Gewicht rund 4,5 Mal geringer als bei einer vergleichbar dicken Edelstahlplatte. Um Flexibilität und Atmungsaktivität zu gewährleisten, haben wir uns das Gürteltier zum Vorbild genommen. Wie bei diesem gepanzerten Säugetier nutzen wir eine sich überlappende Schuppenstruktur. Anders als bei anderen Anbietern sind unsere Schuppen allerdings so angeordnet, dass es nicht möglich ist sie, auseinander zu schieben. Dadurch erreichen wir ein hohes Maß an Sicherheit in Kombination mit höchster Flexibilität.

Our under vests are ideal for wearing under a shirt inconspicuously. The self-adjusting shape of the vests makes them ideal for both men and women. The patent-pending process gives our stab protection vests an extremely light, breathable and highly flexible design. They are also stab resistant to knives, blades and probes. In addition, our stab protection vests feature a very large protective area. This provides the best possible protection especially for the lower abdominal area, which cannot be covered by rigid vests. Genuine all-round protection for the upper body and all vital organs.
The breathable and lightweight outer fabric made of resistant polyamide fibres is capable of optimally absorbing sweat and moisture and dries quickly. The outer fabric can be washed in the washing machine to ensure flawless and hygienic cleaning.

…and found the right partners in the two mechanical engineers for plastics and textile technology, Dr. Nadine Jungbecker and Dr. Philip Jungbecker. The revolutionary project of their former colleague convinced them both. Since then, the Remscheid-based Armadillo Tex GmbH, which was set up specifically for this purpose, has been responsible for the distribution of the latest generation of stab protection vests in Germany and throughout Europe. In addition to pure distribution, Armadillo Tex GmbH has also undertaken the task of fulfilling the specific requirements of the European market and further developing our products together with our customers.

Future developments
We will not stop researching for you. This is because we want to offer our customers an increasingly improved, broader and safer product range. In the meantime, we have commenced work on the fourth generation of our impenetrable textiles together with our development partner High Armor. This will allow us to either further increase safety or reduce weight while maintaining the same level of safety.
We do not set ourselves any boundaries or restrictions. Stab-proof gloves? Makes sense. What about trousers? Why not. And complete suits? Interesting idea. With zipper? Absolutely. In high-visibility colours? Perfect. Our stab-proof under vest can be easily customised for larger quantities to meet customer requirements.
